This is for the local folks . . . it’s not the Quad, and I’m afraid the days of 99 cent movies are long gone . . . but it’s still pretty exciting to folks like me who are a) procrastinators and b) cheap. Plus, they’ll have more alternative films, so I will hopefully feel less bitter about not living in NY . . .

I don’t think you are cheap, but instead frugal . IMO Cheap means doing something very stupid or in bad honor/taste to save money.
